Activities

Once a month, usually on Wednesday night, everyone interested in art is welcome to join our “Café Culture”. We usually have a lecture, movie or similar on a culture-related subject. This is followed by discussion  whilst enjoying a glass of wine. Excursions, cultural trips and a variety of specific workshops (photography, portrait, mosaic, glass and silk painting, decorative art, art history and more) are organized on a regular basis.

Sunday 14 February 3pm: Finissage Expo 'Quel Cirque' + Prizegiving!!
The last day of the Hangar exhibition in the Salle St Esprit in Valbonne, around 3 pm, we will finish all left over nibbles and drinks. During that Happy Hour we will also announce the Winner(s) of the Public Prize. Until 14 February 2pm you can cast your vote for your favorite Artwork!
25 September Hangar Open Day
Sunday 25 September from 11am - 4pm: Open day! Check out the demo's and work of the students, meet the teachers and sign up as a member. Around 11.30 an 'apéritif' is offered when the mayor of Chateauneuf (who will be there) receives an artwork created by the Hangar drawing Group

Open every day except Mondays from 10.30 - 18.30. The HANGAR Exhibition 'Quel Cirque' takes place in the Salle St Esprit in Valbonne. With sculptures, paintings in oil, acrylics, watercolors, drawings, and handmade prints from Hangar members Setup as a circus - A must-see!  
16 September art trip to Turner Exhibition in Aix-en-Provence
LE HANGAR organizes a special trip, only for its members: A full day trip to Aix-en Provence to see the temporary TURNER EXHIBITION (closing Sept 18th). 8h30 departure from Le Hangar- A comfortable bus has been reserved Participation is limited to 40 persons (2 x 20 for the exhibition) First come first served! 1 August: Exhibition Oil Group in La Roquette
1 - 31 August, Nelly's Oil group exhibits in the Salle des Mariages in the mairie of La Roquette sur Siagne. Address: 630 Chemin de la Commune The official opening will be on Friday 5 August, 6.30pm  
Wednesday 30 March Café Culture Cinema: Frida Kahlo
Hangar Cinema presents Selma Hayek as Frida Kahlo in a wonderful movie about the life and works of this Mexican female painter As a bonus, the beautiful ‘maquette’ model of Châteauneuf de Grasse, created by Pim's students will be presented to the audience! Enjoy the film, discussions and drawings, followed by a glass of wine and a nibble with your Hangar-friends! Cost per person €5, paid during the evening.

Café Culture Cinéma: 7.30pm Enjoy a film about the life and works of Salvador Dali, and his life with his wife, Gala, who inspired most of his paintings. Pim de Jongh will explain the two styles of surrealism which exist in art: Representational and Abstract. As always, we look forward to welcoming many of you to our highly popular Café Cultures. Enjoy the film and discussion, and afterwards have a glass of wine and a nibble with friends.

New Year Painting Workshop no. 1 with Brenda Malley This series of three one-day workshops is suitable for artists of all abilities – from beginner to advanced – who wish to take a fresh look at your painting practise. We will cover some basic principles of composition, colour mixing and use of materials, with a special focus on palette knife painting in oils or acrylics. 75 euros fee for the 3 workshops.
