All members wishing to participate in the metal art class need to demonstrate skills  equivalent to what is taught in the basics class. Once the basic skills have been acquired students can work on projects to produce small interior sculptures our larger masterpieces for the outdoors. Please contact Pim de Jongh for participation in these classes.

The basic class covers: 
Lesson I:
Explanation of the various materials to be used
How and where to use the Hangar equipment and tools
   * Machines for metal grinding, cutting and sharpening
   * Extension wires and electrical connections
   * Hammer and chisel
   * Gloves, protection glasses, welding mask etc

Preparing welding equipment, mask and electrodes
Welding the first simple seams and the cooling of the work piece

Lesson II:
Working with various metal thicknesses and applicable electrodes
Welding iron hook profiles
Welding various thicknesses of reinforcing steel bars

Lesson III: 
Iron bending and welding small objects

Lesson IV:
Putting ones creativity into self-designed iron objects
At the end of this course the student should be able to transfer his/her creativity into a welded iron work by choosing the right materials and equipment and by using the tools in a safe way. Le Hangar will provide the necessary material and tools for these lessons.
